For the week of: May 10, 2012 The river stage is 9.6' -- a little higher than normal 8'. Fishing all around the area has been just fantastic in recent weeks. Turkey season is in full swing and we've seen a few nice birds bagged by guests. Something new to watch out in front of the motel (about 2 miles out) is the island restoration project which began several weeks ago. Workers are dredging and rebuilding islands that have been eroding over the years. It is scheduled to be a 2 year project here in Pool 9.
It's not too soon to be planning a visit for spring, summer, or fall as we already have numerous reservations in the book (especially July & October). We look forward to seeing old friends and welcoming new guests. You'll love it here!

Donna's Garden Report: I've got allium, bleeding hearts, blue flax, catmint, chives (yes, they are gorgeous in a flower bed), clematis, columbine, coral bells, daisy, forget-me-not, iris, mountain bluet, petunia, pincushion flower, salvia, scented geranium, silene, viburnum, weigela, wild phlox blooming -- others not far behind! It's all soooo pretty. What a wonderful spring we're having -- decent temps and plenty of rain. Our "crooked patio" is gone and has been replaced with more Purington Pavers. I have added some pretty colored glass "totems" on the fence posts and on some small tree stumps.
